BAPE STORE® KYOTO OPEN

　 1000年を超える歴史を持ち、日本の伝統的な文化をいまに伝えるいにしえの都、京都。 市内にある寺院や神社の数はおよそ2000以上、さらには多くの世界遺産が点在し、その数 なんと17箇所。世界的な観光地としても広く知られるこの街には多くの人々が訪れます。 その京都にA BATHING APE®️が初めてストアを構えたのは2002年のこと。 それから17年の時を経て、2019年3月3日(日)、リニューアルオープン。 新しく「BAPE STORE® 京都」として生まれ変わりました。

With a history of over 1,000 years, Kyoto is an ancient city that conveys the traditional culture of Japan even today. The number of temples and shrines in the city exceed 2,000, and what's more, there are World Heritage sites scattered through the city, an astounding 17 in total. Well known as an international tourist destination, many people visit the city. It was in 2002 that the first BAPE® store was opened in Kyoto. Then, 17 years later, it was relaunched on Sunday 3, March 2019. It was reborn as “BAPE STORE® KYOTO”.

STORE

　 一面ガラス張りの建物の外観からまず目に飛び込んでくるのは店舗上部に設置されたAPE HEADと7体のシャークフーディを纏ったスタチュー。このBAPE®️のトレードマークとも言えるアイコン達は多くの人々が行き交う四条通りでも大きな存在感を放っています。 店内に足を踏み入れると、およそ10mもの天井の高さを活かした開放的な吹き抜け。多くの鏡面が至る所に施された特徴的な店内は近未来をイメージさせ、最新のBAPE®️の世界観を存分に堪能することができます。 また、2階にはアイコニックなテーブルやソファが置かれたカフェ&ラウンジコーナーを設置。光膜天井から注がれるやわらかな光に包まれ、ショッピングの合間にコーヒーなどのドリンクをお楽しみいただけます。

From the external view of the building enclosed in glass on one side, the first things that catch the eye are an APE HEAD and 7 statues wearing shark hoodies situated at the top of the store. These icons, which could be thought of as the BAPE® trademark have a big presence, even on Shijo street where many people come and go. When visitors set foot in the store, they enter an open arcade that takes advantage of the 10 meters high ceiling. The distinctive interior, covered with many mirrored surfaces, gives it a near future image, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the latest BAPE® world view. There is also a cafe & lounge space on the second floor, with iconic tables and couches. Wrapped in soft light pouring down from the light film ceiling, visitors can take a break from shopping to enjoy beverages such as coffee.

ART

　 以前の店舗BAPEXCLUSIVE™ 京都にはBAPE®️ GALLERY が併設され、ブランドのアーカイヴをはじめ、数多くのアートエキシビションを開催してきました。 この BAPE STORE® 京都でもアートとのつながりは変わりません。BAPE STORE® ️PARIS、BAPE STORE®️ LOSANGELES同様に、店舗内の壁面にはニューヨークを拠点とするアーティスト Adam ListerによるBAPE®のアイコンをモチーフとしたアートワークが展示予定。皆さまをお出迎えします。

In our previous store, BAPEXCLUSIVE™ KYOTO, we had installed the BAPE® GALLERY, where we held numerous art exhibitions including brand archives. This connection with art will continue at the new BAPE STORE® KYOTO. As with BAPE STORE® PARIS and BAPE STORE® LOS ANGELES, we plan to exhibit works by New York-based artist, Adam Lister, on the walls of the store as BAPE® icons and motifs.

　 BAPE STORE® 京都にて限定で販売されるアイテムも、和をモチーフとした T シャツ、クルーネック、 フーディから、うちわや湯飲みまで、多彩なバリエーションで展開。京都 × BAPE®という異文化コミュニケーションならぬ異文化コラボレーションは、このリニューアルを機にさらにパワーアップ。京都から発信する和テイストを取り入れた数々のBAPE®️アイテムをどうぞお見逃しなく。 今後も BAPE®️ ファンのみならずたくさんのお客様に楽しんでいただけるような BAPE STORE® 京都を作り上げていきます。京都にお越しの際は是非お立ち寄りください。

We have also expanded the variety of BAPE STORE® items sold exclusively at our Kyoto location, from T-shirts, crew necks, and hoodies, to fans and cups, with Japanese motifs.
